About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the permitting process for Olympic and Paralympic venues, temporary structures, and operational facilities
- Develop comprehensive permitting schedules aligned with construction and Games-time milestones
- Identify required permits and approvals across city, county, state, and federal jurisdictions
- Serve as the primary liaison with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), including Building & Safety, Fire, and Planning agencies
- Coordinate permit reviews, inspections, plan checks, and regulatory meetings
- Partner with City Operations, Security, Transportation, and Legal to align permitting with operational needs
- Maintain detailed permit logs, dashboards, and reporting tools
- Monitor permitting budgets and identify critical path risks
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in permitting, planning, construction management, or regulatory compliance
- Experience managing permits for large-scale construction, sports venues, or public events
- Strong understanding of California permitting processes and regulatory frameworks
- Experience working with multiple government agencies and AHJs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and Bluebeam
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large special events, stadiums, or Olympic-scale operations
- Knowledge of temporary event structures and special event permitting
- Familiarity with CEQA, NEPA, ADA, and public assembly requirements
- Familiarity with the California Building Code
- PMP certification or related project management credentials
- Existing relationships with Southern California regulatory agencies
