Manager, Permitting

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the permitting process for Olympic and Paralympic venues, temporary structures, and operational facilities
• Develop comprehensive permitting schedules aligned with construction and Games-time milestones
• Identify required permits and approvals across city, county, state, and federal jurisdictions
• Serve as the primary liaison with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), including Building & Safety, Fire, and Planning agencies
• Coordinate permit reviews, inspections, plan checks, and regulatory meetings
• Partner with City Operations, Security, Transportation, and Legal to align permitting with operational needs
• Maintain detailed permit logs, dashboards, and reporting tools
• Monitor permitting budgets and identify critical path risks

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in permitting, planning, construction management, or regulatory compliance
• Experience managing permits for large-scale construction, sports venues, or public events
• Strong understanding of California permitting processes and regulatory frameworks
• Experience working with multiple government agencies and AHJs
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and Bluebeam

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with large special events, stadiums, or Olympic-scale operations
• Knowledge of temporary event structures and special event permitting
• Familiarity with CEQA, NEPA, ADA, and public assembly requirements
• Familiarity with the California Building Code
• PMP certification or related project management credentials
• Existing relationships with Southern California regulatory agencies
