About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end tissue operations, including procurement, receipt, processing, documentation, shipment, and return of fresh and archival specimens
- Manage Tissue Operations staff through hiring, onboarding, performance management, and professional development
- Own tissue turnaround time (TAT) performance by tracking, trending, and analyzing key metrics to drive improvement
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, work instructions, sponsor requirements, and regulatory standards
- Drive process improvement by identifying workflow gaps and implementing sustainable solutions to enhance efficiency
- Partner with internal clinical teams and external partners (pathology labs, sponsors, CROs) to ensure alignment on study needs
- Serve as the escalation point for complex or time-sensitive issues impacting specimen flow or study timelines
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in clinical research, laboratory operations, or tissue/specimen management
- Proven experience in clinical research operations and tissue/specimen management workflows
- Strong understanding of regulatory, sponsor, and quality requirements related to specimen handling
- Demonstrated operational leadership and team management skills
- Proficiency in process design, workflow optimization, and problem-solving
- Experience with data analysis and performance metric tracking
