Manager of Software Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple software engineering teams within the Consumer and Community Banking division, managing day-to-day implementation and technical execution.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to software engineers on daily tasks and professional development.
• Drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices and SDLC automation to improve delivery speed and quality.
• Manage stakeholder relationships and ensure all work adheres to compliance standards, security requirements, and service level agreements.
• Anticipate technical dependencies with other teams to ensure seamless product delivery.
• Foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect within the engineering organization.

Requirements

• 5+ years of applied software engineering experience with formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• Proven experience in coaching and mentoring engineering teams.
• Proficiency in developing backend services using Java and Spring Boot within microservices architectures.
• Strong experience with RESTful API design and implementation.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure as code using Terraform and operating services on AWS.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Practical knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., Postgres, Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis).
• Experience with event streaming solutions such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Proficiency in DevOps and SRE practices, including CI/CD with Jenkins and observability tools like Splunk or Grafana.
• Experience leading the responsible adoption of AI-assisted development tools and ensuring secure data handling.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Cloud certification.
• Experience implementing observability and SRE practices using Splunk and Grafana.
• Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and reliability engineering for high-throughput services.
• Familiarity with secure coding practices and threat modeling.
