About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead multiple software engineering teams within the Commercial & Investment Bank, managing day-to-day implementation and technical delivery.
- Provide guidance to software engineers on daily tasks, setting expectations for output, practices, and collaboration.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and ensure work adheres to compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements.
- Drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices and SDLC/TLM automation to improve delivery speed and quality.
- Anticipate dependencies with other teams to ensure products and applications are delivered in line with business needs.
- Foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect within the engineering organization.
Requirements
- 12+ years of applied software engineering experience with formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
- Proven experience leading technology projects and managing engineering teams.
- Deep expertise in core Java, Spring Boot, J2EE, and messaging systems (MQ).
- Proficiency in UNIX, Apache Tomcat, SQL, and JavaScript frameworks.
- Strong experience with distributed applications and database management (Oracle, Postgres).
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
- Proficiency in automation, continuous delivery, and test automation using Selenium.
- Experience with modern data and messaging technologies such as Kafka, Flink, Dapr, and Apache Iceberg.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly at the code level.
- Exposure to the full software development lifecycle within large-scale systems, ideally in the financial services industry.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
