Manager of Communications & External Affair

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and stewardship of SMF’s brand, voice, and visual identity across all platforms
• Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with institutional priorities
• Produce high-quality content including writing, photography, video, and design to document farm work
• Drive enrollment and participation through targeted marketing campaigns for workshops and events
• Manage the SMF website and oversee integrated digital systems including CRM, registration, and e-commerce
• Manage media, press, and public relations to expand regional and national visibility
• Support fundraising efforts by developing donor-facing messaging and storytelling in partnership with leadership
• Coordinate communications for on-site events such as farm-to-table dinners and community gatherings
• Maintain a comprehensive digital media library and institutional archive of farm processes and student work

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, design, media, or a related field
• 5–8+ years of relevant experience in communications, marketing, or external affairs
• Strong verbal and visual communication skills with a high level of design sensibility
• Experience with media, press, and public relations
• Ability to manage integrated digital platforms including web, CRM, and registration systems
• Ability to work full-time on-site in Loudon, NH, with flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within nonprofit, mission-driven, cultural, or educational organizations
• Experience in craft, agriculture, or place-based learning environments
