About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily Medical Information Management (MIM) and Coding operations, ensuring accurate release of information and adherence to documentation standards.
  • Establish and improve workflows for release of information, provider deficiency processes, and coding functions.
  • Ensure compliance with policies regarding protected health information (PHI) storage, retrieval, and record retention.
  • Coordinate internal and external coding audits and support provider education.
  • Manage department budgets, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Directly supervise MIM and Coding team members, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management.
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as coding timeliness and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with revenue cycle leadership to support system enhancements and change management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • RHIA, RHIT, or CPC certification.
  • 5 years of hospital medical coding experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory management experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare accreditation standards and privacy requirements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field.
  • Experience in billing management.
  • Prior experience leading medical coding teams through DNV surveys.
  • Experience with new software application implementations.
