Manager, Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement strategic direction for mechanical design components to achieve leading cycle time and superior quality
• Provide technical guidance as the lead subject matter expert for material selection and design concepts
• Manage Mechanical Engineering manpower, resources, and tools to meet client technical and scheduling needs
• Coordinate with Estimating, Electrical Engineering, and Building Design departments to ensure compliant, finalized designs
• Oversee workload prioritization, performance management, and professional development of the engineering team
• Recommend budget expenditures for research and development focused on product simplification and standardization

Requirements

• 10 years of Mechanical Engineering design experience in Marine, Heavy Industrial, or Oil & Gas industries
• 5 years of electro-mechanical power system design experience (low/medium voltage, power distribution, motor control centers)
• 2 years of experience leading and managing an engineering team
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Proficiency in 3D Mechanical Design applications (Pro E Wildfire, SolidWorks, or Autodesk Inventor)
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
• Knowledge of UL Standards (UL-1558, UL-891, UL-67, UL-508, UL-845, and UL-DLAH)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an MBA
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT)
• Mid- to upper-level management experience
