Manager, Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities

• Hire, manage, and coach individuals within the Mechanical Engineering function
• Ensure the quality of work produced meets product goals and requirements
• Assign engineers to subsystem projects and manage workloads
• Drive innovative design directions while balancing project risks
• Establish and enforce quality assurance processes
• Serve as a liaison between engineering teams and other departments
• Define engineering standards and guiding design principles
• Operate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and individual contributor when necessary
• Mentor fellow engineers to foster a culture of continuous improvement

Requirements

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 5+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience
• Experience managing or leading technical teams
• Knowledge of component manufacturing processes (machining, rapid prototyping, etc.)
• Experience leading large system development projects
• Proficiency in parametric solid modeling and CAD software
• Required experience with SolidWorks and PDM
• Familiarity with drawing and tolerancing standards
• Knowledge of Agile Scrum methodology

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in the automation industry
• Previous start-up experience
• Experience with thermal and mechanical FEA, topological optimization, Ansys, or Solidworks simulation
• Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical systems
• Industrial safety system experience
