Manager, Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of mechanical engineering execution across the full development cycle, from concept definition through EVT, DVT, PVT, and ramp
• Provide hands-on technical leadership on cross-functional trade-offs involving thermals, fluids, mechanisms, and sensing
• Shape and execute the hardware product roadmap in collaboration with the Chief Product Officer and executive team
• Manage and grow a high-performing team of mechanical, soft goods, and prototype & test engineers
• Travel to Asia to ensure suppliers and manufacturing teams are delivering successfully against goals
• Implement engineering systems and processes, including design reviews and phase gates, to ensure peak efficiency

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience developing complex electromechanical systems, ideally in high-volume consumer hardware
• Proven track record of launching products through mass production in Asia (tooling, build management, and testing)
• Deep technical expertise in injection molding, mechanism design, and electronics/sensor integration
• Experience leading early-stage product development, including feasibility prototyping and industrial design
• Demonstrated ability to hire, coach, and manage engineering teams
• BSME or equivalent degree
• Ability to work onsite in San Francisco 5 days a week and travel to China as needed
