Responsibilities
- Create white-page designs for Gen 2 product designs
- Transition designs from prototype stage to high volume production with vendors and manufacturing engineers
- Drive verification analysis (FEA) and testing of design work
- Establish best practices for structures design and mentor team members
- Recruit and hire engineers to grow the team
- Release designs consistent with company best practices including drawings and tolerance analysis
- Guide team through failure root cause analysis on systems and components
- Travel up to 20% to other offices or vendor sites
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 7+ years of industry experience in mechanical design
- Experience leading design work for complex mechanical systems and structural design
- Experience using FEA for structural analysis
- Experience managing 2 or more direct reports in a functional leadership capacity
- Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD modeling and drafting using GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018)
- Proficiency in DFMA for mass manufacturing, specifically sheet metal, stampings, and weldments
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to hit difficult schedule targets
