Responsibilities

  • Create white-page designs for Gen 2 product designs
  • Transition designs from prototype stage to high volume production with vendors and manufacturing engineers
  • Drive verification analysis (FEA) and testing of design work
  • Establish best practices for structures design and mentor team members
  • Recruit and hire engineers to grow the team
  • Release designs consistent with company best practices including drawings and tolerance analysis
  • Guide team through failure root cause analysis on systems and components
  • Travel up to 20% to other offices or vendor sites

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of industry experience in mechanical design
  • Experience leading design work for complex mechanical systems and structural design
  • Experience using FEA for structural analysis
  • Experience managing 2 or more direct reports in a functional leadership capacity
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD modeling and drafting using GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018)
  • Proficiency in DFMA for mass manufacturing, specifically sheet metal, stampings, and weldments
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to hit difficult schedule targets
