Responsibilities
- Own the design and validation of cathode materials using statistical methods to satisfy performance, cost, and manufacturability criteria
- Manage, mentor, and lead a team of 4+ materials engineers
- Partner cross-functionally with advanced manufacturing and process engineering to streamline the transition from development to high-volume production
- Prioritize safety through hazard mitigations, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Drive critical design and vendor management initiatives for raw materials
- Collaborate with engineering program managers to build schedules and track project risk
- Architect technical updates to facilitate strategic decision-making with executive leadership
Requirements
- Degree in materials science, chemical engineering, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline
- Multiple years of hands-on product development experience transitioning materials from R&D to high-volume manufacturing
- Formal management experience coaching technical talent
- Experience linking structural material properties to final product performance
- Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE) and analytical tools like JMP or Minitab
- Demonstrated use of engineering tools such as FMEA and RCA
- Willingness to travel domestically up to 15%
