About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the rollout and enhancement of health and safety initiatives across Canada to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Design and implement H&S policies, procedures, and frameworks that promote a safe and engaging workplace.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations, including OHSA and WSIB/WCB requirements.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
- Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and document findings for management and authorities.
- Champion a culture of safety by developing training, communication materials, and awareness campaigns.
- Monitor and report on H&S key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide actionable insights for leadership.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, Operations, and Distribution, to align safety priorities.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a health and safety professional with expertise in H&S management.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian H&S regulations, including OHSA and WSIB/WCB.
- Demonstrated experience leading H&S projects in corporate, distribution, or industrial environments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and interpret complex data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence leaders and frontline employees.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with global and North American counterparts.
- Willingness to travel 10-20%.
Preferred Qualifications
- JHSC Certification.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation.
