Manager, Health & Safety

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and oversee Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) programs and procedures to safeguard employees and the environment
• Lead a team of intermediate to experienced EH&S generalist professionals, setting objectives and guiding program development
• Formulate and administer EH&S plans and manage multiple EH&S specialties
• Coordinate with business partners regarding facility concerns and employee practices to ensure regulatory compliance
• Interface with local EH&S authorities and manage relationships across specialized departments
• Analyze audit findings to maintain safe work practices and develop required environmental regulatory reports
• Develop and implement strategic EH&S initiatives and drive necessary tactical resources
• Coordinate and influence environmental contract negotiations

Requirements

• University Degree and minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
• 5+ years of experience in Environmental, Health, or Safety within a manufacturing environment
• Ability to travel up to 5% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing safety personnel and working in a union environment
• Experience with Health & Safety management software
• Experience working in a Title V environment or supporting EHS programs in Southern California (Cal OSHA, SCAQMD)
• Professional certifications such as Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM)
• Certification in Project Management
