About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the Security Operations Centre (SOC) in Canada, managing the detection, intake, analysis, and response to security incidents.
- Drive a customer-focused culture by providing ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development to the team.
- Create and maintain standards, processes, and procedures for incident management, documentation, and escalation.
- Implement and maintain systems used for the prevention and detection of incidents impacting employees, clients, or assets.
- Monitor trends in fraud and loss events to provide guidance to leadership and implement risk mitigation initiatives.
- Ensure all operational activities comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and Scotiabank’s risk appetite.
- Prepare briefing materials for senior management regarding investigative findings and critical decision-making.
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in business law, law enforcement, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 3 years of recent management experience in a financial crimes, corporate security, or fraud role.
- Thorough knowledge of investigative practices, methods, and enforcement strategies.
- Working knowledge of the Canadian financial regulatory environment and the Canadian judiciary system (criminal and civil processes).
- Proven experience in training, coaching, and mentoring high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest ethical standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional accreditations such as CFE, CAMS, or CFCS.
- Experience with Quality Assurance (QA) implementation and oversight.
- Specialized training in interviewing and negotiating.
