About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead HP's enterprise database operations, overseeing a globally distributed team of employees and contingent workers.
  • Direct end-to-end operations for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and non-standard platforms across on-premises and cloud environments (Azure/AWS).
  • Own SOX/ITGC database controls and serve as the primary liaison for external auditors.
  • Manage the GDBA budget, including PO creation, invoice management, and cost center tracking.
  • Oversee vendor relationships, including SOW negotiation and performance oversight.
  • Serve as the escalation point for P1/P2 database incidents and drive root cause analysis.
  • Define database architecture standards and product roadmaps.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise database administration (Oracle and/or MS SQL Server).
  • 5+ years of experience in a management role leading globally distributed teams.
  • Deep technical expertise in Oracle RDBMS, SQL Server, RAC, and high availability/disaster recovery architectures.
  • Proven experience with SOX/ITGC compliance, including control design and audit coordination.
  • Experience in vendor management, including SOW negotiation and procurement processes.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget oversight and PO/PR workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud database environments such as Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or Oracle Cloud.
  • Familiarity with Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) platforms like SailPoint or Saviynt.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, Splunk, OEM, or SCOM.
  • Background in ITSM processes (ServiceNow/ITIL) and Power BI reporting.
