Manager - Firmware Software Systems Design

Responsibilities

• Lead a firmware development team focused on power management, security, and platform memory setup for embedded market segments.
• Plan, track, and deliver all firmware deliverables for internal and external systems using AMD APU/CPU.
• Design, develop, and debug firmware features, including low-level design documents and user guides.
• Oversee APU/CPU validation, platform validation, and debug engineers to resolve silicon and system issues.
• Collaborate with core firmware teams, architects, and vendors to meet product requirements for Networking, Storage, Automotive, and Thin client markets.
• Provide custom firmware design support and technical guidance for tier-1 customers.
• Support existing firmware by addressing customer escalations and debugging system-related issues.

Requirements

• 16+ years of overall experience in firmware development.
• 5+ years of experience leading a development team (ideally 7+ members).
• Strong proficiency in C programming.
• Deep understanding of BIOS, power management, and PCIe.
• Knowledge of SoC power management, including CPU/Device power states and hot-plug.
• Experience with security firmware, including silicon security subsystems, Root of Trust, and TPM/fTPM.
• Understanding of memory technologies including DDR4, DDR5, NVDIMM, and various DIMM types (UDIMM, SODIMM, RDIMM, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of UEFI BIOS and ACPI.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from a reputed college.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Knowledge of AGESA.
• Experience with Boot loader and Linux.
• Familiarity with JIRA for project tracking.
• Understanding of UMC features such as ECC, SME, SEV, and RAS.
