Manager, Field Mechanical Engineering - Assembly

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of four to eight field mechanical engineers to plan and deliver objectives for specific SPARC assembly workstations
• Translate department strategy into actionable group objectives and manageable project timelines
• Define and optimize field engineering workflows and internal standards to improve efficiency
• Oversee the full station scoping life cycle, from definition to tool and process implementation
• Establish and reinforce best practices for mechanical assembly, including alignment, installation, and rework
• Manage talent including hiring, training, and setting performance expectations
• Provide design feedback to sub-system designs to ensure manufacturability and ease of assembly
• Assist in the resolution of non-conformance issues and incorporate red-line changes into assembly sequences
• Support hands-on operations during Tokamak assembly

Requirements

• B.S. in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
• 2+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience demonstrating project ownership
• 2+ years of experience in management or oversight of construction, manufacturing, or assembly/integration processes
• 2+ years of experience with CAD software
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
• Willingness to travel or work nights, weekends, or on-call occasionally
• Ability to work onsite 5 days a week during assembly operations

Preferred Qualifications

• 6+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience
• 4+ years of management experience in construction or manufacturing
• 3 years of experience with Siemens NX
• Experience with lifting operations, welding, or piping and tubing construction
• Experience with highly complex, delicate, or tightly packaged assemblies
• Experience in fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing or integration environments
