About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of four to eight field mechanical engineers to plan and deliver objectives for specific SPARC assembly workstations
- Translate department strategy into actionable group objectives and manageable project timelines
- Define and optimize field engineering workflows and internal standards to improve efficiency
- Oversee the full station scoping life cycle, from definition to tool and process implementation
- Establish and reinforce best practices for mechanical assembly, including alignment, installation, and rework
- Manage talent including hiring, training, and setting performance expectations
- Provide design feedback to sub-system designs to ensure manufacturability and ease of assembly
- Assist in the resolution of non-conformance issues and incorporate red-line changes into assembly sequences
- Support hands-on operations during Tokamak assembly
Requirements
- B.S. in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
- 2+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience demonstrating project ownership
- 2+ years of experience in management or oversight of construction, manufacturing, or assembly/integration processes
- 2+ years of experience with CAD software
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to travel or work nights, weekends, or on-call occasionally
- Ability to work onsite 5 days a week during assembly operations
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience
- 4+ years of management experience in construction or manufacturing
- 3 years of experience with Siemens NX
- Experience with lifting operations, welding, or piping and tubing construction
- Experience with highly complex, delicate, or tightly packaged assemblies
- Experience in fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing or integration environments
