About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct hands-on failure analysis investigations and root cause analysis for complex electrical systems.
- Advise clients on the design, evaluation, and performance of electrical components, PCB layouts, power systems, and control systems.
- Develop test plans and conduct experiments, including simulation, validation, and performance tests, to diagnose faults and ensure reliability.
- Perform proactive engineering assessments to identify latent risks and evaluate design adequacy.
- Conduct investigations involving battery systems, BMS, BESS, electric vehicles (EVs), and power electronics.
- Prepare technically detailed documentation, including technical reports, schematics, and findings for legal or regulatory purposes.
- Manage day-to-day requirements of multiple engagements, including project management and budget oversight.
- Assist with field inspections and participate in the preparation of hearings, trials, and mediations.
Requirements
- Masters or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or a related scientific field.
- Proven experience applying electrical and power systems engineering principles to battery systems, BMS, BESS, EVs, or power electronics.
- Proficiency with CAD and analytical tools, specifically Altium, SPICE, and MATLAB.
- Experience designing and executing experimental programs, including circuit-level prototyping and validation testing.
- Strong deductive reasoning and the ability to solve complex problems in unfamiliar situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients and counsel.
- Ability to travel as-needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in professional consulting or specialized industry roles.
- Experience assessing failure mechanisms within real-world industrial applications.
- Dual language fluency.
