Responsibilities

• Own the daily pitch operation to secure coverage across national and regional media outlets
• Monitor news and culture cycles to identify reactive opportunities for Builders
• Draft press releases, media advisories, op-ed drafts, and story memos
• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, producers, and editors across multiple platforms
• Identify and vet creators, podcasters, and newsletter writers as earned media channels
• Leverage AI tools and media monitoring stacks like Muck Rack and TVEyes to optimize workflow
• Partner with the Editorial Director to align media efforts with organizational priorities

Requirements

• 5-7 years of PR or communications experience focused on earned media
• Proven track record of securing placements in national or major regional outlets
• Ability to build relationships with political, civic, and lifestyle reporters
• Sharp, fast writing skills for pitches, press releases, and reactive statements
• Deep familiarity with the national political and media landscape
• Technology-forward mindset with fluency in modern PR tech stacks and AI tools
• Collaborative spirit and enthusiasm for cross-partisan civic missions

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with the Texas political and media landscape
• Existing relationships with creators or podcasters in the civic space
• Experience in nonprofit, advocacy, or civic sector communications
• Experience supporting executive spokespeople or public figures
