About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage daily clinical laboratory operations for the weekend PM shift, ensuring safety, quality, and accuracy of results.
- Oversee the supervision, training, and professional development of laboratory staff.
- Ensure strict compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and other applicable state and federal regulations.
- Direct daily workflows, monitor quality control testing, and manage quality assurance performance metrics.
- Lead laboratory projects, including process improvements, clinical validation studies, and new product launches.
- Manage departmental budgets, equipment needs, and supply ordering.
- Resolve high-complexity technical problems and oversee corrective actions for test deviations.
- Review and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and nonconformance documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory/Medical Technology Science (or a related field).
- 6+ years of experience working in a clinical laboratory setting.
- 3+ years of experience leading and managing teams.
- Demonstrated experience in high-volume laboratory operations and quality management programs.
- Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and OSHA regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work the designated weekend PM shift.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree in a relevant scientific field.
- 2+ years of experience with Laboratory Information System (LIS) requirements and workflows.
- Experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, RT-PCR, and DNA sequencing.
- Experience working with high-throughput robotic instruments.
- Familiarity with FDA regulations regarding Laboratory Developed Tests (LDT) and ISO standards.
