About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist in the routine maintenance, operation, and repair of public buildings, structures, and equipment
- Conduct visual inspections of building equipment and conditions to assess defects or hazards
- Perform minor repairs to building hardware, furniture, masonry, woodwork, flooring, and walls
- Replace broken window and door glass and repair windows/sash
- Perform minor repairs to electrical, plumbing, and heating systems
- Relocate building equipment as directed
- Prepare reports and maintain records of premises conditions
- Operate a motor vehicle to travel between various work sites in the Bronx
Requirements
- Three years of full-time experience as a mechanic, journeyperson, or helper in electrical, mechanical, or construction/maintenance trades
- OR two years of experience plus sufficient vocational/technical training in relevant trades
- Ability to travel throughout the Borough of the Bronx
