About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the routine maintenance, operation, and repair of public buildings, structures, and equipment
  • Conduct visual inspections of building equipment and conditions to assess defects or hazards
  • Perform minor repairs to building hardware, furniture, masonry, woodwork, flooring, and walls
  • Replace broken window and door glass and repair windows/sash
  • Perform minor repairs to electrical, plumbing, and heating systems
  • Relocate building equipment as directed
  • Prepare reports and maintain records of premises conditions
  • Operate a motor vehicle to travel between various work sites in the Bronx

Requirements

  • Three years of full-time experience as a mechanic, journeyperson, or helper in electrical, mechanical, or construction/maintenance trades
  • OR two years of experience plus sufficient vocational/technical training in relevant trades
  • Ability to travel throughout the Borough of the Bronx
