High school diploma or equivalent, Two years experience in water/wastewater or public works, Iowa Class A CDL with air brake endorsement, Iowa Grade 1 Water Distribution Operator Certificate, Ability to pass DCI background check, Ability to pass physical and drug screening

About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction, maintenance, and repair of water distribution and wastewater collection systems
  • Repair water mains, valves, and fire hydrants, and conduct CCTV sewer inspections
  • Respond to service calls and emergencies, including being available for on-call duties outside normal hours
  • Conduct water quality sampling and monitoring in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Operate electric motors, pumps, valves, and heavy equipment such as backhoes, tractors, and jetter/vac units
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment malfunctions, and visual observations
  • Assist in emergency situations such as flood control, storm clean-up, and water main breaks
  • Perform snow and ice removal on streets and sidewalks using municipal equipment

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience in water/wastewater or public works settings
  • Iowa Class A CDL with air brake endorsement (or ability to obtain within 9 months)
  • Iowa Grade 1 Water Distribution Operator Certificate (or ability to obtain within 24 months)
  • Ability to pass a DCI background check
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening
