Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and journeyman-level repairs across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, drywall, painting, and carpentry trades
• Respond to work order requests in a professional and timely manner, documenting all activities and resolutions
• Identify root causes of facility issues and determine necessary materials, tools, and corrective actions
• Install, maintain, and repair plumbing fixtures, electrical components, and small motors or pumps
• Execute interior and exterior painting tasks, including surface preparation
• Perform basic maintenance on university vehicles, golf carts, and yard equipment
• Assist grounds technicians with tasks such as mowing, seeding, trimming, and seasonal debris removal
• Collaborate with the Associate Vice President and external vendors on complex maintenance projects

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of relevant experience in building trades
• Working knowledge of maintenance methods and materials for commercial or residential buildings
• Ability to operate yard equipment, manlifts, and vehicles
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various heights or tight spaces
• Valid NC driver’s license (or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire)
• Availability for emergency call-backs during evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in skilled trades
• Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
• Proficiency with automated work order systems
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
