Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on buildings, fixtures, and equipment
• Execute tasks including carpentry, hardware replacement, light replacement, and lock changes
• Maintain internal signage and accessibility operators
• Conduct visual inspections of building equipment and appliances
• Clear entranceways of snow and ice and apply salt
• Perform preventative maintenance and check fire and safety equipment
• Follow fire alarm protocols and replace smoke detector batteries
• Clean and mop floors, remove garbage, and maintain cleanliness of residences
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and manage inventory of materials
• Respond to work order requests and liaise with building managers and staff

Requirements

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
• Three years of related work experience or equivalent technical training
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and building maintenance experience
• Proficiency with small hand tools, power tools, ladders, and elevated platforms
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written)
• Computer skills and ability to use communication tools like cell phones and radios
• Ability to work independently and outdoors in inclement weather
