Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform general facilities duties including carpentry, drywall, masonry, welding, electrical work, plumbing, and basic HVAC
• Safely operate construction related vehicles and machinery such as tractors, skid steer, lifts, and loaders
• Complete maintenance on animal habitats and support facilities following all animal safety rules
• Assist all zoo departments with repairs and maintenance initiatives
• Partner with outside contractors and volunteer groups on assigned projects
• Assist with the setup and take down of special events
• Receive and input work order information into a computer and cell phone

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• At least 1 year of general maintenance experience
• Operating knowledge of power tools, machinery, and safety equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, and carpentry issues
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in confined spaces
• Ability to work safely with ladders and at heights
• Basic computer and typing skills
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
