Maintenance Technician II

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, corrective, and preventive maintenance work for campus buildings, systems, and equipment
• Respond to work orders and service requests for residence halls, academic buildings, and administrative spaces
• Execute repairs involving plumbing, carpentry, painting, wall/ceiling repair, and basic electrical troubleshooting
• Inspect buildings and fixtures to identify maintenance needs and troubleshoot technical problems
• Document completed work, materials used, and follow-up requirements in the maintenance management system
• Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in a clean, organized, and safe condition
• Participate in the department's on-call rotation for after-hours, weekend, and emergency response
• Assist with inclement weather and emergency campus support as directed

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years of hands-on experience in building maintenance, facilities, or a related trade
• Basic skills in plumbing, carpentry, or electrical work
• Valid NC driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending, climbing, and kneeling
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an occupied campus environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in apartment, hotel, commercial, or institutional maintenance
• Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
• Ability to read and follow equipment manuals, diagrams, and written instructions
