About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance and repair operations for tractors, trailers, and ancillary equipment
  • Review, evaluate, and approve maintenance quotes and issue purchase orders
  • Prioritize maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime and minimize disruptions
  • Develop, negotiate, and manage maintenance agreements with vendors and dealerships
  • Oversee preventive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned repairs
  • Monitor maintenance budgets, repair spend, and vendor invoicing
  • Ensure all repairs comply with DOT, FMCSA, and internal safety standards
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and compliance documentation

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in fleet maintenance, heavy-duty trucking, or transportation equipment management
  • Strong working knowledge of Class 8 tractors and trailers
  • Deep understanding of DOT and FMCSA compliance requirements
  • Proven experience in vendor negotiation and cost-based decision making
  • High school diploma or equivalent or better

Preferred Qualifications

  • Established vendor relationships within the trucking or transportation maintenance industry
  • Experience with capital planning and equipment replacement analysis
