Maintenance Painter

Responsibilities

• Apply paint, primer, varnish, and lacquer using brushes, rollers, or sprayers
• Mix paints and blend colors to meet project specifications
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching walls, and taping/masking woodwork
• Paint and finish building exteriors, interiors, floors, furniture, and school equipment
• Apply wallcoverings as required
• Operate specialized equipment such as sandblasters, power sanders, and paint shakers
• Maintain tools including brushes and rollers
• Work from ladders and scaffolding and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Drive to various work sites within the district

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Two (2) years of professional painting experience, including surface preparation
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to perform physical tasks including rigging, climbing, and operating machinery

Preferred Qualifications

• Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship in painting issued by the U.S. Department of Labor or the Ohio State Apprenticeship Council (may substitute for one year of required experience)
