Maintenance Mechanic Tech

Responsibilities

• Perform start-up, shutdown, monitoring, and maintenance of equipment and systems at a coal generating facility
• Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate plant equipment
• Monitor equipment performance through testing and analysis, reporting any variances
• Adhere to all location safety procedures, including red tagging and the use of personal protective equipment
• Follow approved procedures for normal operations and emergency response during abnormal operations

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license
• Demonstrated mechanical, electrical, or I&C experience
• Basic computer skills utilizing Windows applications, email, and work management software
• Ability to work in confined spaces and wear all required safety equipment
• Ability to pass a respiratory physical and wear all personal protective equipment
• Ability to undergo specialty training, including Fire Brigade, Confined Space, Rescue, Hazmat, and First Responder
• Ability to work around equipment that generates electromagnetic fields (EMF)
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and meet a weight restriction of 325 pounds for safe equipment handling

Preferred Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree in machinery technology
• 3+ years of experience in power plant mechanical maintenance or operations
• 3+ years of machining or welding experience (boilers, pressure piping, and structural steel)
• Welding certifications
• Duke Energy rigging and lifting certifications
• Experience monitoring and troubleshooting fluid system operations (pumps, valves, boilers, etc.)
• Experience with computer-controlled equipment
