About the role
Responsibilities
- Maintain and perform a wide variety of repairs on buildings, systems, and equipment, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing.
- Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure safe and operational conditions.
- Erect and work from ladders, scaffolds, swing stages, boom trucks, and similar devices.
- Maintain, repair, and install electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment and fixtures in campus buildings.
- Assist in moving and storage operations for physical plant equipment, furniture, and supplies.
- Operate a variety of vehicles, hand tools, and power tools.
- Read, interpret, and follow technical instructions and operation manuals.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with all procedures, rules, and regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of general maintenance experience in similar facilities.
- Possession of a current, valid driver’s license in the State of Alabama.
- Physical dexterity and strength to perform duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to verbally communicate technical information.
- Knowledge of trade methods, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
- Ability to exercise tact and discretion when interacting with employees, customers, and the public.
