Maintenance Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, machinery, and cGMP utility systems including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement long-term solutions.
• Manage inventory of machine parts and supplies while coordinating with contractors for specialized repairs.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and PPE requirements.
• Complete all required maintenance documentation in compliance with cGMP and SOPs.
• Respond to emergencies such as equipment failures or power outages.

Requirements

• Associate degree in a technical field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical components such as motors, pumps, valves, and sensors.
• Proficiency with technical tools including gear pullers, drilling, milling, and stainless-steel welding.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including P&IDs and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work in varying environmental conditions.
• Willingness to work the 2nd shift schedule (Monday–Thursday, 3pm–1am).

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in an FDA-regulated or controlled manufacturing environment (food, pharma, or live cultures).
• Relevant certifications such as OSHA Safety, EPA Refrigerant Handling, or trade licenses.
• Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and automation equipment troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and root cause analysis methodologies.
