Maintenance Engineer

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive breakdowns across site equipment and utilities
• Diagnose faults and implement effective, timely repairs to minimize downtime
• Support production teams in maintaining optimal plant performance and resolving operational issues
• Ensure all engineering work is carried out in line with site safety procedures, permit systems, and food safety requirements
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation via CMMS
• Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives regarding reliability, efficiency, and cost reduction
• Assist with the installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment or modifications
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards including HSE, GMP, and environmental controls
• Work collaboratively with Operations, Quality, and EHS teams

Requirements

• Engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Proven experience in an engineering or maintenance role within a manufacturing environment
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills in electrical and/or mechanical disciplines
• Good understanding of PPM systems and maintenance best practices
• Awareness of food safety and hygiene standards (GMP)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team with a proactive attitude

Preferred Qualifications

• Electrical qualification such as 18th Edition or equivalent
• Multi-skilled background with an electrical bias
• Experience working with pumps, valves, filtration systems (UF/MF), and process equipment
• Experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments
• Flexibility to support production needs, shutdowns, or callouts
