About the role
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and perform professional electrical and mechanical repairs on process, packaging, utility, and facility equipment to minimize downtime.
- Use prints, schematics, and panel drawings to isolate root causes of electrical faults.
- Diagnose VFD faults by interpreting fault codes and verifying wiring and connections.
- Perform electrical functions including disassembly, cleaning, assembly, and troubleshooting of panels, switchgear, motors, VFDs, controllers, and PLC hardware.
- Inspect and verify operation of field devices such as sensors, proximity switches, photoelectrics, and limit switches.
- Execute quality electrical and mechanical preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date CMMS records for all equipment and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with Automation Technicians to resolve faults extending into PLC programming or configuration.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Automated Systems, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field; OR 3 years of applicable work experience.
- Basic knowledge of PLCs and DCS, Power Distribution, Motors & Drives, and AC/DC Theory.
- Proficiency with test equipment including multimeters and ampmeters.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, electrical prints, and control panel wiring diagrams.
- Ability to work overtime and holidays as necessary.
- Ability to provide own tools and toolbox.
- Physical ability to climb ladders and stairs and work in all areas of the plant.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience drawing basic line-to-line diagrams.
- Functional knowledge of local, state, and federal electrical code standards.
- Working knowledge of various types of packaging, process, utility, and facility equipment.
