Maintenance/Custodian

Responsibilities

• Perform various building cleaning tasks including cleaning restrooms, vacuuming carpets, maintaining hard surface flooring, and removing trash and recycling.
• Clean glass, windows, furniture, walls, and whiteboards to maintain a sanitary environment.
• Perform minor mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs.
• Maintain campus grounds through snow removal, mowing, planting, fertilizing, and aeration.
• Order and maintain appropriate custodial supplies from the Physical Plant warehouse.
• Secure buildings before leaving for the day.
• Provide work direction to custodians, temporary workers, and work-study students as assigned.

Requirements

• One year of custodial experience, including the operation of extractors, burnishers, auto scrubbers, and related equipment.
• Experience or supplemental training in minor building maintenance.
• Ability to periodically move equipment, furniture, or supplies weighing up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders, bend, reach, and push.
• Valid Iowa driver’s license (or ability to obtain one with a satisfactory driving record).
• Ability to read and understand operating instructions.
• Ability to interact effectively and courteously with diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Benefits

• Competitive hourly wage ranging from $18.30 to $20.66 based on experience.
• Monday through Friday, day shift schedule.
