About the role
Responsibilities
- Construct, install, maintain, and repair equipment and facilities using power and hand tools
- Perform unskilled work in various crafts including carpentry, plumbing, painting, and electrical work
- Maintain shops, mechanical spaces, and student areas in a clean and safe manner
- Respond to emergency facility problems and perform necessary repairs
- Maintain logs, perform rounds, and complete preventative maintenance work orders
- Assist with grounds maintenance, including snow and ice removal
- Operate tractors, grounds equipment, and motor vehicles as cleared by Transportation
Requirements
- Must be a current Washington Adventist University student
- Ability to use a ruler and work with fractions
- Ability to read blueprints or models to understand work layouts
- Ability to diagnose and solve technical and mechanical problems
- Physical ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb stairs, and work on ladders
- Ability to lift medium and heavy materials and equipment
- Flexibility to work long hours under stressful conditions, including nights and weekends
