Maintenance Apprentice

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform mechanical, electrical, and electronic maintenance on plant equipment and production machinery
• Assist Maintenance Technicians with technical and diagnostic repairs to minimize production downtime
• Learn to troubleshoot electrical components including wiring, circuits, motors, and AC/DC motor control circuits
• Gain experience with Allen Bradley programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and associated software
• Learn to fabricate replacement parts using shop tools, lathes, mills, and welding equipment
• Utilize a CMMS to write work orders, plan jobs, and maintain parts inventory
• Support and maintain food safety practices through the Safe Quality Foods (SQF) program
• Maintain clean work areas and record data required for equipment repair and efficiency

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to use hand and power tools
• Basic math skills, including weights and measurements
• Computer proficiency for internet, email, and data entry
• Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
• Ability to lift and carry 75-100 lbs and perform repetitive lifting of 20-50 lbs
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including every other weekend
• Ability to work in various conditions, including heights, confined spaces, and extreme temperatures

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in plant and production equipment operation
• Knowledge of food production machinery operation and maintenance
• Experience with bench tools, lathes, mills, or welding
• Knowledge of electronics and use of multimeters
• State boilers, electrical, or refrigeration licenses
