Mainframe Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain a Java-based agent running on IBM z/OS systems
• Build capabilities to scan and interact with mainframe technologies including VSAM, QSAM, IMS, DB2, and flat files
• Design, implement, and support scalable microservices and APIs using Spring and Spring Boot
• Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability for large-scale data scanning and processing workloads
• Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and product teams to solve complex technical challenges
• Share mainframe expertise to support other engineers in developing domain knowledge

Requirements

• Experience with modern Java development frameworks such as Spring and Spring Boot
• Experience building distributed systems, APIs, or microservices-based architectures
• Experience working with IBM z/OS or enterprise mainframe environments
• Knowledge of mainframe technologies and concepts such as VSAM, QSAM, JCL, datasets, DB2, or IMS
• Familiarity with containerized environments and orchestration technologies like Kubernetes
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and practices
• Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and software delivery automation
• Proficiency in Golang development
• Experience with COBOL, REXX, RACF, or USS
• Background in legacy modernization and platform transformation initiatives
