Mainframe Engineering Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of mainframe hardware and software lifecycle management initiatives
• Manage teams supporting multiple z/OS mainframe environments
• Provide technical leadership across core mainframe technologies including JCL, DB2, IMS, CICS, and SDLC practices
• Oversee security mechanisms such as RACF, ACF2, and TSS
• Drive modernization, automation, and continuous improvement of mainframe services
• Partner with data center, production services, and application development teams to support enterprise initiatives
• Lead and develop technical staff through coaching, mentoring, and talent development

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• 6–10 years of relevant infrastructure or systems engineering experience
• Direct hands-on mainframe experience is required
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage complex projects
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to influence technical and business stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of diverse IT experience, particularly within financial services
• Deep technical knowledge of z/OS, PARMLIB, UNIX System Services, and HCD
• Proficiency with SMP/E and maintenance routines
• Experience with JCL, IPL processes, and ISPF/TSO
• Experience with the installation and support of IBM operating systems and ISV software
• Familiarity with ITSM / ITIL practices including Release and Change Management
