Mainframe Engineering Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of mainframe hardware and software lifecycle management initiatives
• Manage teams supporting multiple z/OS mainframe environments
• Provide technical leadership across core technologies including JCL, DB2, IMS, and CICS
• Oversee security mechanisms such as RACF, ACF2, and TSS
• Drive modernization, automation, and continuous improvement of mainframe services
• Partner with data center, production services, and application development teams
• Lead and develop technical staff through coaching and mentoring

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• 6–10 years of relevant infrastructure or systems engineering experience
• Direct hands-on mainframe experience is required
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage complex projects
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to influence stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of diverse IT experience, particularly in financial services
• Experience with z/OS, PARMLIB, UNIX System Services, and HCD
• Proficiency with SMP/E, maintenance routines, and IPL processes
• Knowledge of ITSM / ITIL practices including Release and Change Management
