Mainframe Administrator

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the z/OS platform, including installation, configuration, and SMP/E maintenance
• Build and standardize environments using ADCD and z/PDT across DEV, QA, and UAT
• Manage core subsystems such as Db2 for z/OS and IMS, including configuration and upgrades
• Administer key system components including storage (DASD), datasets, and network services (TCP/IP, VTAM, FTP, SSH)
• Design and manage security using RACF, Top Secret, or ACF2 to ensure compliance
• Design and execute backup, restore, and recovery processes
• Troubleshoot system and environment-level issues through root-cause analysis

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with z/OS system programming and SMP/E
• Experience working with ADCD and z/PDT environments
• Expertise in datasets (VSAM, QSAM, PS/E, PDS/E, UNIX) and DASD/storage management
• Experience with External Security Managers (RACF, Top Secret, or ACF2)
• Practical experience with Db2 for z/OS and IMS
• Ability to work cross-functionally with developers and customers
