Machinist

Responsibilities

• Machine parts, tools, and fixtures to exact specifications using lathes, mills, waterjets, grinders, and other specialized tools.
• Run provided NC programs on CNC equipment and operate manual machines to meet part requirements.
• Set up, adjust, and inspect first articles to ensure high-precision quality control for prototype parts.
• Collaborate with engineers and shop personnel to determine proper methods and sequences of operations.
• Diagnose machine health and perform necessary preventative maintenance.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and detailed work instructions.
• Support composite fabrication (wet lay-up and pre-preg) and aircraft system maintenance when not performing machining tasks.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in the aerospace industry or a comparable high-precision manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Expert use of precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and pin gauges.
• Strong knowledge of metallurgy and shop mathematics.
• Proven ability to manufacture tight-tolerance parts and work with materials such as Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Titanium, and Inconel.
• Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours) and lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or Mastercam).
• Experience designing parts and fixtures.
• Experience programming machining centers.
