Machinist

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain machine shop equipment including manual lathes, mills, and grinders
• Utilize CNC equipment and perform setup for individual parts and fixtures
• Read and interpret standard and metric blueprints, including GD&T requirements
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and depth mics
• Maintain safe operations by strictly adhering to all safety procedures and regulations
• Document and communicate actions and irregularities to ensure continuity between shifts
• Adapt to changing workloads by moving between different machines or job assignments as needed

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience working with manual lathes, mills, and grinders
• Strong working knowledge of various types of CNC equipment
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding GD&T
• Ability to perform basic math and geometry calculations
• Proficiency in using machine shop measuring instruments (OD/ID mics, calipers, etc.)
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and willingness to work overtime, including weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical degree in Machine Shop operations
• Experience operating and programming an NC Mill
• Proficiency in G-code or conversational programming
• Knowledge of speeds and feeds for different materials and tooling
• Experience with programming software such as Esprit or MasterCam
