About the role

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools, including lathes, horizontal borers, and grinders, to produce precision parts
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications to determine effective machining operations
  • Measure and visually inspect completed parts to detect defects and ensure conformance to manufacturing documentation
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to all health and safety procedures
  • Document and report production data, including quantities, dimensions, and deviations from specifications

Requirements

  • Completed recognized full level 3 apprenticeship, NVQ level 3, or a technical certificate in a relevant engineering field
  • Proven experience as a machinist within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in operating machine tools such as lathes, horizontal borers, and grinders
  • Strong ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in measurements
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and production reporting
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team
