Machinist

Responsibilities

• Perform precision machining operations on material and test samples
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using micrometers and vernier calipers
• Machine parts using manual and CNC machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders
• Set up, adjust, and operate basic and specialized machine tools
• Study blueprints, drawings, and project information to determine fabrication methods
• Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials for machinery work
• Maintain industrial machines using knowledge of mechanics and metal properties
• Prepare samples according to ASTM and ASME standards
• Confer with project managers and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information
• Complete task safety evaluations and hazard reporting

Requirements

• Certified journeyperson with a valid recognized credential or 5+ years of practical machining experience
• Minimum of 2 years of machining experience
• Proficiency with manual and CNC machine tools
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
