About the role
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate various types of tool room and punch press equipment
- Plan and arrange machining sequences and confirm tool design intent using measuring instrumentation
- Troubleshoot and diagnose forming problems with progressive stamping dies
- Perform tooling changes, sharpening, repair, and general maintenance on dies
- Operate die carts, cranes, and Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIVs) to move and lift dies
- Read and interpret blueprints with close tolerances
- Collaborate with the engineering team on die design and improvement recommendations
- Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards on the production floor
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in a tool shop environment
- CNC experience, including the ability to perform some programming
- Strong mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios)
- Proficiency in practical algebra, geometric construction, and essentials of trigonometry
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, blueprints, and diagrams
- Basic computer skills for data entry and retrieving job information
- Physical ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift/carry 5-35 pounds regularly
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with stampings
- Six months or more of press die set up or machine repair experience
