About the role
Responsibilities
- Program and set up 2, 3, 5, and 9-axis CNC mills and lathes, including tooling creation and selection
- Read work instructions and prints to produce aerospace prototype and production parts
- Use CMM data and hand tools to inspect parts and adjust machining processes to ensure conformance
- Document all builds via Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to maintain traceability and configuration control
- Own quality and part acceptance for tightly toleranced features and critical characteristics
- Procure necessary materials and tooling for scheduled production jobs
- Write non-conformance tickets for defects identified during the manufacturing process
- Assist in training new employees and internal users of the machine shop
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years of high-precision machining experience (aerospace, medical, or gearing industries preferred)
- Experience programming 3 and 5 axis mills utilizing various toolpaths, including simultaneous toolpaths
- Experience programming 2 and 3 axis lathes, including part transfer operations
- Proficiency with CAM software such as Solidworks, Fusion 360, or MasterCAM
- Knowledge of Fanuc or Siemens based CNC controllers
- Proficiency with inspection tools and dimensional verification to engineering specifications
- Ability to work onsite in San Francisco 5 days a week
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Haas, Matsuura, DMG Mori, or Makino machines
- CMM programming experience (Zeiss preferred)
- Experience with exotic materials (7050, LiAL, Titanium, etc.)
- Welding experience (TIG, UHV TIG, Ultrasonic, or EBW)
- Knowledge of honeycomb panel machining or composite fabrication
