Machinist/Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Maintain the operation of the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) Additive Manufacturing (3D) printing lab
• Assist students with 3D printing design and prototyping for the MIE Capstone program
• Manage and maintain the upkeep of the Capstone studio
• Partner with other MIE lab technicians to maintain five teaching labs serving over 700 students per semester
• Assist the Department Chair with maintaining safety in teaching and research lab spaces
• Support the decommissioning of labs and the preparation of lab courses and training for teaching assistants

Requirements

• Associate degree in an engineering field or equivalent professional experience
• Hands-on experience with SLA and FDF/FFF 3D printers
• Strong social skills for interacting with undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and researchers
• Experience with safety protocols in a lab or machine shop environment
