Machinist

Responsibilities

• Operate various conventional machine shop equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, and saws to produce small parts within prescribed tolerances
• Operate CNC vertical mills and lathes using Fanuc controllers
• Perform machine set-ups, adjusting speeds, feeds, and depth of cut based on blueprints and engineering orders
• Check machined parts for conformance to specifications and prescribed tolerances
• Design and construct machine shop tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures
• Interpret tooling and fixture requests and convert them into sketches for fabrication
• Provide technical advice and assistance to tool designers regarding new tooling formation

Requirements

• 6-9 years of related machining experience
• Proficiency in operating CNC vertical mills and lathes with Fanuc controllers
• Ability to read and interpret complicated blueprints, technical drawings, and mathematical formulas
• Advanced mathematical skills, including the application of fractions, algebra, percentages, ratios, and proportions
• Expertise in using a variety of precision measuring instruments
• Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions from technical instructions
