About the role
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate machine shop equipment, including mills, lathes, and drill presses, to manufacture components according to specifications
- Read and interpret complex drawings, sketches, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T)
- Inspect and measure completed projects using precision tools such as micrometers, calipers, and Verniers to ensure conformance
- Perform all Statistical Process Control (SPC) functions and maintain required documentation
- Conduct self-quality audits, including first-piece inspections and subsequent work inspections
- Execute preventive maintenance schedules and maintain up-to-date TPM boards
- Adhere to all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) regulations and policies
- Engage in Continuous Improvement activities and maintain a neat, organized work area
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED with at least 1 year of relevant machining experience (or 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of a diploma/GED)
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and interpreting technical drawings
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T)
- Hands-on experience operating machine shop equipment
- Ability to use precision measurement tools
- Must be a U.S. citizen to access required program information
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with MP 9001 Quality Policy Manual
- Advanced knowledge of Shop Math and Metrology
- Working knowledge of machine control languages
