Machinist I

Responsibilities

• Operate SNK horizontal 3-axis CNC machines to produce precision components and welded assemblies
• Perform machine setups, including identifying datums to ensure assemblies remain square and accurately sized
• Select, install, and verify fixturing and tooling to ensure part stability and repeatability
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
• Conduct first article inspections and use calibrated equipment like calipers and micrometers to verify tolerances
• Monitor machining operations and make approved offset adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy
• Identify and segregate nonconforming products in accordance with quality control procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S and ISO 9001 standards

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proven experience in CNC machine operation
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
• Proficiency using precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SNK machines or large horizontal CNC equipment
• Experience machining welded assemblies in a heavy manufacturing or fire apparatus environment
• Technical or vocational training in machining or manufacturing
• Ability to edit CNC programs and offsets
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards and documentation requirements
